Unsustainable Cycle depicts an ouroboros
in a state of suspended animation. There is snake skin laminated
between glass using a copper foil technique, and it peaks out
between gems lodged in the snake. Oftentimes the ouroboros is
depicted as a symbol of eternal life, the snake sustaining itself on
itself. In reality, snakes who eat their own tails are often not so
lucky. I worry that I am an ouroboros in my own life: wondering if I
made a mistake and I haven’t yet realized I’m destroying myself.
