Lamination Machine
Dear centers on objects meant to be temporary: Photographs,
recordings, receipts, tickets, mail, letters, etc. These items that carry
traces of lived experience despite being designed for disposal. By
painting, drawing, laminating, and stitching these items, the work
repositions the overlooked as sites of memory and value.
The title “Dear” serves as a double meaning: cherished and highly
valued but also a formal letter salutation. Stitched together
and hung like a tapestry, the individual pieces form an intimate
archive, referencing systems of record-keeping, domestic labor,
and storytelling. The installation accumulates fragments—of time,
memory, and address.
