Lamination Machine
My fiber collages explore the weight of connection and care
embedded within the material itself. Through binding, stitching, and
layering fibers, I create surfaces that hold both physical tension and
emotional resonance. These gestures become a way to consider
sentimentality and memory; what we choose to preserve, what we
allow to unravel, and what gradually fades into the unnoticed. The
materials act as vessels for quiet narratives, absorbing traces of
time, wear, and human touch.
Each piece becomes a meditation on preservation in an
ever-changing world, reflecting how we attach meaning to objects
not for their utility, but for the stories they carry. The repetitive,
labor-intensive process mirrors acts of care and repair, echoing the
ways people mend relationships, remember moments, and hold onto
the ephemeral. The threads of human connection, like the fibers
themselves, intertwine and fray, suggesting both resilience and
vulnerability. Through these layered compositions, I invite viewers
to consider how memory is woven from small, often overlooked
gestures, binding together past and present into a tactile expression
of connection.
