Beauty standards are engraved in society, no matter the generation.
You must look a certain way, wear certain clothing, or wear certain
makeup. The objective is to be the ideal woman. This ideal is to
be forever appealing to the male gaze. Through heavy makeup, a
woman should feel beautiful. Through a triptych of self-portraits,
I explore how beauty standards are ever changing, but forever
making women feel small. Plastic is made to represent the forced
stasis on women to remain appealing and ageless, despite the
double standards of society to stay relevant and trendy.
